Due to climate change and increasing farming costs, growing vegetables has become difficult. However, you can easily grow fresh green onions at home using a simple plastic bottle method.

Required Materials

• Green onion roots
• 5 liter plastic bottle
• Soil
• Vermicompost or organic manure
• Water

Steps to Grow Green Onions

• Cut the upper portion of a 5 liter plastic bottle.
• Create small holes around the bottle at 3 inch intervals.
• Fill the bottle with 50% vermicompost and 50% soil or cocopeat.
• Insert green onion roots into the holes.
• Spray water lightly on the plants.

Plant Care

• Add nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus and potash to the soil.
• Avoid chemical pesticides.
• Use neem oil spray if pests appear.
• Ensure proper sunlight for plant growth.

Harvesting

Green onions can be harvested within 20–25 days. Regular cutting allows multiple harvest cycles.
